Franklin Springs, GA---The visiting (RV) Martin Methodist Redhawks took two of three games from the Emmanuel College Lions Baseball team making their 2012 home series debut.
On Friday Emmanuel claimed the first game 4-1 behind a strong seven-inning pitching performance from Blaine Seagraves. Seagraves allowed four scattered hits and fanned 4 in the complete game. A big three-run 3rd inning opened up a large lead in this very tight game. EC recorded eight hits with Ben Grillo going 3-3 at the plate driving in 2 runs.
Game two found the Lions come up just short losing the game 3-2. The Lions had the game-tying run at third base in the bottom of the sixth but were unable to get the runner across the plate. Joshua Wright was on the mound for the Lions and allowed 8 hits in six innings of work striking out 2 batters. Will Gretsch went 2-3 at the plate.
Saturday's game three of the series was all Redhawks on the scoreboard despite the Lions limiting Martin Methodist to just 5 hits. EC was down early 1-0 and MM tacked on two insurance runs in the 8th to put the game out-of-reach. Matt Kennison went 2-3 for the Lions who recorded just four hits on the afternoon.
Emmanuel is now 4-2 on the season and plays at North Greenville on Wednesday at 2 pm. The Lions return home next weekend as Montreat College visits for a three-game series. First pitch is 2 pm on Friday and 1 pm on Saturday.
