Franklin Springs, GA---Charles Cawthon has been named the new Clay Target Shooting program head coach at Emmanuel College.
Clay Target Shooting is a new co-ed sports program at Emmanuel College and will begin competition during the 2012-13 school year.
Cawthon grew up in Lavonia, Georgia and attended Franklin County High School and Truett-McConnell College. Cawthon is a Life National Rifle Association (NRA) member and has both the NRA Level One Shotgun Coach and NRA Range Safety Officer certifications.
"I have been involved in the shooting sports all my life and have participated in most all disciplines of shooting at one time or another," said Cawthon. "I feel truly blessed to be a part of the Emmanuel College family. It's exciting to be involved with a school that places so much emphasis on the development of the whole person. I can't wait to get this program off the ground and share my passion for the shotgun sports with young men and women."
Cawthon still resides in Lavonia and has been married to LuAnn Moon Cawthon for 25 years. They have a son Charlton and daughter Cezann.
