KANSAS CITY, Mo.---Emmanuel College's Michael Stanley (JR/Mobile, AL) has been named an NAIA First-Team All-American selection for men's basketball for the 2013-14 season.
The Mobile, Alabama native led the Lions in points per game (16.9) as well as rebounds per game (8.4) during the season. Stanley was the only Lion to appear in all 37 games for Emmanuel this season and was a key factor in the Lions' run to the NAIA national championship game posting three double-doubles (averaging 22 points per game) in five NAIA national tournament games. For this production he was named to the NAIA national tournament all-tournament team earlier this week.
Stanley scored 626 points during the season and was also an SSAC first-team all-conference selection earlier this month.
The junior guard scored a season-high 31 points in the SSAC Championship game versus William Carey University and grabbed a season-high 19 rebounds (most of which were defensive) in a February game versus SSAC opponents Brewton Parker College. Out of 37 games, he failed to score in double digits just six times and grabbed over 200 of his 310 total rebounds on the defensive end of the court.
