The 2010-2011 season looks to be an exciting one for the Soccer Lions of Emmanuel College.  This year see's a lot of changes in the EC Soccer program so there are some high expectations.  First of all, Coach Scott Borchers will no longer be splitting his time between the men's and women's soccer teams.  Emmanuel College has hired another head coach for the women's team.  This will allow Borchers to focus all of his time and energy on the men's soccer program.

The facilities continue to improve at the EC Soccer complex, nicknamed "The Plateau".  Along with the facility improvements from the 2009 summer, this Spring we have added some European shelters on the Home and Visitor sidelines to help the coaches and players better deal with the weather elements.

The Soccer Lions had one of their most competitive Spring seasons ever, competing against North Georgia College & State University, Covenant, Birmingham Southern, Georgia Perimeter College, and conference foes Southern Polytech and Shorter in different 7 a-side and/or 11 a-side competitions.  Coach Borchers states, "By competing against such quality programs and showing well, I feel the guys have really gained a lot of confidence in our ability and I think that will carry over into the upcoming season".

We also see the Southern States Athletic Conference add more teams and split into two divisions.  This will make things very challenging for the Soccer Lions to reach their goals of participating in both the SSAC and NCCAA tournaments.

Lastly, the Soccer Lions will be returning 14 players from the 2009-2010 season.  The 2010 Soccer Lions only graduated 1 starter, so the team looks to be stronger than ever this upcoming season.
