"We had an intensive week of workouts this week, so it was expected for our men and women to be tired. We did, however, have some new guys run some personal best marks even with some heavy legs. Leonel was fresh and Carson really ran well to the potential we've been looking for," stated Coach Larios.
Rounding out the next three scorers for Emmanuel in the 8K race were freshmen Ethan Alexander (27:35.00), Rashaun Tanner (27:35.86) and Jonah Holbert (27:37.35).
Another Lion that ran well on Friday was freshman, Carson Massey who respectfully clocked a 27:42.19.
"I feel like I ran one of my more comfortable and best races of the year. I think what helped me the most in this race were teammates and coaches believing in me. Throughout the whole race, there was motivation and encouragement all through the course. Practices really did have a huge impact on my performance. As conference is getting near, I want to be in 26:10 and 27:00 and with the help of teammates, coaches, Emmanuel College, and by the grace of God it is and will be possible," shared Massey.
The Lions will travel to Mount Berry, GA on Saturday, October 22nd to compete in the Southeast Classic. "This weekend we should have fresher legs and run well against other NAIA schools. This meet will give us the opportunity to run against teams in our conference that we have not seen yet," shared Larios.
