Clarkesville, GA -- The Emmanuel College men's soccer team took some time off the pitch to make the short journey to neighboring Habersham County for a chance to help a local youth soccer club Monday evening. After training and making final preparations for their match against Truett-McConnell College hours earlier in the afternoon, Head Coach Scott Borchers led his Soccer Lions squad over to the Habersham Recreation Center to help share some of their soccer knowledge with the youth of the North Georgia Soccer Association.

Taking some time out of their busy schedules as the season is coming to a close; the Soccer Lions traveled to the local soccer club and put their knowledge of the game to good use coaching the U-6 teams. Organized with the help of North Georgia Soccer Association, the kids and player-coaches shared a great night of skill building filled with tons of fun along the way.

"This was a great opportunity for the guys to reach out to the local soccer community, both to the kids playing and to the parents coaching them.  I feel we have a responsibility, as a soccer program to demonstrate a strong Christ-like and servant leadership example for everyone we come in contact with, especially the youth that are interested in this beautiful game!  All players involved both the NGSA and Emmanuel players really enjoyed their time with each other and I think everyone learned something this evening," said Coach Borchers of his team's efforts with the youngsters.
