Central, SC---The Emmanuel College Women's basketball team used some late free throws and some clutch shots to down the Southern Wesleyan Warriors 71-67 in SSAC basketball action.

A double-double by Kryston Young (17 points and 10 rebounds) carried the Lions to victory in this key SSAC conference game that also doubled as a 'Lil Bronze Peach series match-up.  The Lions earned two points in this annual competition between EC and SWU.

Emmanuel took a 39-22 lead into the half after three runs of 7, 8, and 7 points opened up the halftime margin.  SWU used a 7-point run to open the second half and then a 12-point run to close the gap to just two points with 11 minutes to play.

Emmanuel then lost the lead a few minutes later and then trailed by as many as 4 points with 2:48 to play before the Lions re-gained their shooting touch outscoring SWU 10-2 over the final minutes for the final margin of victory.  EC shot 73% from the foul line (30 for 41) to provide some big points when needed.

EC travels to Brenau on Saturday for a 2 pm tipoff before hosting Southern Poly on Monday at 6 pm.
