Central, SC---The Emmanuel College Men's basketball team downed Southern Wesleyan University 67-62 Thursday night in their SSAC eastern division match up.

Graham Maxwell led four Lions in double digits scoring 14 points in the victory.

Emmanuel was up by as many as 12 points in the first half before holding a slim 36-35 halftime lead.  SWU took the lead 37-36 just into the second half before the Lions re-claimed the lead pushing out to a 13-point margin late in the second half.

Second-chance points (14), points off the bench (23), and points off turnovers (21) were some key ingredients to the Lion's victory.  The basket to put the Lions ahead for good was a second-chance score as the Lions missed the initial shot, scrambled for the rebound, and made good on the second look.  Andre Holder collected 7 rebounds for the Lions.

The win also earns the Lions 2 points in the annual 'Lil Bronze Peach series between EC and SWU.  SWU visits the Springs February 18 as this series resumes on the Lion's home court.

EC is now 13-9 (6-5 in the SSAC).  The Lions host Southern Poly at 8 pm Monday, January 30 in their next SSAC conference game.
