Central, SC---The Emmanuel College baseball team was defeated 4-2 by the Southeastern Fire in the NCCAA South Region final series Wednesday afternoon at Southern Wesleyan University.

The Lions had lost 5-1 to Southeastern on Tuesday afternoon and the 4-2 loss today eliminated the Lions.

The Fire built a 4-1 lead over six innings and the Lions scored one run in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut into the Fire lead.  The Lions sent seven batters to the plate in the sixth loading the bases forcing the Fire to work hard for the final outs of the inning.

Desmond Harp and Michael Granda both went 2 for 3 at the plate as the Lions could muster only 6 hits all game long.  The Lions pitching duo of Joshua Wright and Steven Barnett limited the number of Southeastern hits to seven but were unable to limit the Fire from manufacturing their four runs.

Emmanuel finishes the season at 30-23 and now awaits the NCCAA Baseball World Series selection process to see if the Lions can gain an at-large bid to the national tournament.  EC was ranked as high as #6 in the NCCAA national polls during the season.
