Franklin Springs, GA---Head Coach T.J. Rosene and the Emmanuel College men's basketball program are pleased to announced the signing of Contravious Heard.

Contravious is a 6'4" forward from Elbert County High School in Elberton, Ga. where he averaged just under 15 points and 8 rebounds per game.

"We're very excited about signing Contravious," said Emmanuel College head coach T. J. Rosene. "His ability to play multiple positions will be a welcome addition to our program."

Contravious plans to major in Health and Physical Education.

Contravious chose Emmanuel for several reasons.  "It's a great fit for my personality," said Heard.  "It puts me in a position to further my education and learn more about the game of basketball in a championship program under a great coaching staff...and all this while getting a closer relationship with God".

Emmanuel College has enjoyed regional and national success on the courts over the past few seasons under the direction of Rosene.  A 2009 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) national championship, a 2011 Southern States Athletic Conference championship and trip to the NAIA national tournament, and a 2012 second-place finish in the NCCAA national tournament have been just a few of the team's highlights over the past few seasons.

The Lions will open their new athletic center on campus in the fall of 2012 and begin writing the next chapters in the EC basketball program.
