Barboursville, KY---The Emmanuel College Soccer Lions continued their campaign at The Union Bulldog Classic by taking on The Georgetown Tigers. They went into the game on the back of a solid performance and 3-0 win against a good Union College Program.

The game kicked off at a fast pace with The Lions determined to take an early lead to secure a stronghold over their opponents. However after a series missed opportunities, Emmanuel were doing everything but score. They finally got their break through after some great work from freshmen Andrew Tanner (Kennesaw, GA); an off the ball run followed by an individual effort from Tanner to turn the ball across the face of goal resulting in a Georgetown defender turning the ball into his own net. The Lions then continued to mount pressure on the Tigers however were unable to increase their lead. The second half started the same way the first half had ended with Emmanuel pushing to double their lead. A mass amount of pressure and possession by Emmanuel got them their second. Alex Wright (Sheffield, England) received the ball at the edge of the box, and had enough whereabouts to chip the ball over the on rushing keeper to secure his first goal since 2010 and doubling Emmanuel's lead.

The Lions continued to possess the ball and pressure the Georgetown defense. They notched another goal from an out-swinging free kick from Ryan Dickson (Portadown, Northern Ireland). It was met by the head of Arturo Chavez (Mexico City, Mexico) to power the ball into the back of the net. Dickson was on hand again to assist Paul Bates (Conyers, Georgia) to his first goal of the season. A neat one-two wall pass in the middle of the field resulted in Bates hitting a left footed, outside the box shot which sailed over the keepers hands to round off Emmanuel's scoring for the day.

To The Lion's despair, a lack of concentration meant they were unable to hold onto a clean sheet and round off a perfect weekend. A half cleared cross was reacted to quicker by Georgetown. An attempted bicycle kick fell to the feet of a Georgetown player who poked the ball into the back of the net for a late consolation goal.

"The guys played well today and deserved the result. I'm happy to see that we are getting better with each match we play" said Coach Borchers.
