Hall comes from Montreat College where he graduated with a degree in Biology. He also spent all four years as a cross country and track athlete at Montreat, having run for Coach Larios for three and half years.
Hall had this to say about joining the Lion's athletic staff, "Running for Coach Larios was such a blessing to me. Coach's incorporation of the Christian faith and athletics, running in particular, makes for a great coaching philosophy. I'm very excited to be working with him and the rest of the Emmanuel College staff to encourage our athletes to run and compete for the glory of God first and foremost."
Ben is originally from Columbus, NC which is located at the foothills of the Western North Carolina mountains. Prior to running for Montreat, Ben earned All-State honors while competing for Polk County High School in cross country and track. While at Montreat, Hall developed into a consistent All-Conference runner in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. On the track, Ben earned the 5000 meter AAC Championship title in 2010. Hall also qualified to run at the cross country nationals three years in a row, while earning a trip to the NAIA Outdoor Track Championships all four years. Hall holds personal best marks of 15:11 for 5000 meters, 25:56 for 8000 meters, and a 2:35 in the marathon.
"Ben was a hard-working, character-driven student-athlete," praised Coach Larios. "He worked for every accolade he earned. When it came time to training, Ben's work ethic and mental toughness is as strong as any I've ever coached. And, as great of an athlete that he is, he's an even better person. He loves Jesus and serves at any opportunity with such an open and kind heart. I love this young man and I know he will add so much to our program as my assistant coach."
Hall graduated with honors from Montreat. He leaves Montreat College as one of the most decorated student-athletes having been honored as the Cavalier Athlete of the Year, as well as Montreat’s Champion of Character of the Year, and the Appalachian Athletic Conference Champion of Character of the Year. He qualified for the NAIA national championships seven different times and earned two top-20 spots in the national marathon event.
"I think Ben will bring a great national championship perspective to our team. He'll be able to help student-athletes realize that they too have what it takes to earn multiple trips to the championships. But most importantly, he will help demonstrate that using all our talents to glorify Christ is the most rewarding cornerstone of our program’s foundation," added Larios.
