Men & Women Swimming Earn Academic All-American Team

 

June 30, 2017 – Norfolk, VA – For the first time in the 95-year history of the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) more than 700 teams have received Scholar All-America recognition. In total, 720 teams, representing 443 institutions achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the Spring 2017 Semester.

Emmanuel College men's swimming earned the award for achieving a team 3.00 GPA. This marks the 5th semester in a row the men have earned this national distinction. Senior Captain Cristhian Carrasquilla lead the way with a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester. Additionally, 3 Lions (Adrian Aleksandrowicz, Senior Captain Camilo Mendoza, and Stanislas Raczynski) earned the Individual Scholar All-American Award.                                                                                              
     
The Individual Scholar All-America Award is presented to college and university swimmers and divers who have achieved a cumulative, or term GPA of 3.5 or higher for the academic term coinciding with their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CCCAA Swimming and Diving Championships and have qualified for the Championship.
 
On the women's side, the lady lions swim team earned the Academic All-American Team award by achieving a team 3.50 GPA for the Spring semester. This marks the 8th semester in a row the women have earned this national distinction. Senior Captain, Paisley Whitaker lead the way with a perfect 4.0 college GPA, earning the distinction of Emmanuel College valedictorian for the 2017 graduating class.
