FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.- This weeks Athletes of the Week are Sophomore Alex Sobers and Freshman Rachel Reshonsky.
Alex Sobers is a Sophomore from Bridgetown, Barbados competing his second year at EC. A huge asset to the swim team, Sobers joined Emmanuel after competing in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the Lions last meet, Sobers racked up 7 first place finishes, including all 5 of his individual events and both of his relays. With Alex's help, the men's swim team defeated 6 other teams and broke the Sewanee Invitational 100 free relay meet record with a time of 39:55.
Rachel Reshonsky is a Freshman from Rockvale, Tennessee who joined the Lions Archery team this year. At their last event, Rachel won Individual Gold and shot up a division to help Bowhunter women team take gold. She shot second highest recurve score overall amongst all recurve shooters, first in the women's division. Coach Estrada had the following to say about her, "As a freshman, Rachel is setting a blistering pace in all of her shooting. She is working hard in conditioning, practices and unofficial practices to craft her game and be better while striving to keep up grades and Serve God."
