FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. - The Emmanuel College Athletic Department strives to make an impact to not only the athletes on campus, but also the surrounding community. Athletic Administration, staff, coaches and student-athletes make it a priority to have a positive impact on those around them every year, and this holiday season was no different.
There were several initiatives this Christmas to help those in need. Some of the highlights are below:
- One service project involved gathering Christmas gifts for young children at the Royston Housing Authority. Through the efforts of the Department, we were able to fill up a room with gifts and household goods, including several bicycles.
- Emmanuel teamed up with Love Him, Love Them to provide Christmas gifts for Haitian children.
- Funds were raised from the Family Carnival that Emmanuel put together earlier on in the year and some of those proceeds were used to purchase a gas card for a family. That gas card will allow the family to visit their father who is in a hospital in Greenville, SC over the holidays. Additionally, another family was provided with several household paper goods and cleaning products.
- Emmanuel Athletics also provided goods and hygiene items to the Whitworth Women's Facility. Each team provided two bags filled with items that were then delivered to the facility.
While Athletic Achievement and Academic Success is highly sought after at Emmanuel College, the wellbeing of those in the surrounding community remains a top priority. We are thankful for the giving hearts and mission minded individuals that make up Emmanuel College Athletics.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from our family here at the Athletic Department!
