Emmanuel hosts a 3D Archery tournament

Franklin Springs, GA - Emmanuel College hosted a 3D Archery tournament in the Swails Center on March 4th and 5th which attracted a large amount of local talent including accomplished ASA archer Mitchell Irvin. Irvin placed first posting the highest score of any archer with a 354 missing the perfect 12 ring only three times. He heard about our tournament through Facebook and was excited about the opportunity to shoot a 3D competition close to home. Irvin is currently the coach of The Wounded Warriors Team Navy Archery Club; an assemblance of wounded Navy veterans.

When asked about what style he prefers to shoot, he said "I've sunk my teeth into all different styles, but I prefer 3D". Irvin also spoke about keeping his skill level up while also maintaining a family life, as has a young daughter and a wife whom he competes alongside. When he spoke about shooting with his wife, he jokingly said it was "awful". He later said that it is tons of fun, despite most of their problems being on the range.

Irvin also spoke about the competition in the north Georgia area and he mentioned local John Thompson from Cumming, GA. He later spoke about higher level competitions like The Vegas Shoot and described it as the most nerve wrecking shoot you could be a part of. Along with being incredibly fun, the pressure of shooting alongside archers the likes of Levi Morgan and David Houser are incredibly intense. "You can be at the top of the leaderboard, and one bad shot can knock you out of the top 10". Irvin's personal goals include elevating his own game as well as leaving a mark on the sport by the way he carries himself and his personal faith.
