John Winchester Named Head Archery Coach

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - Athletic Director Nate Moorman Announced the hiring of John Winchester to take over the Emmanuel College Archery program on Friday, January 18th. 

Coach Winchester is a level 4 NTS USAA coach with over 25 years of experience competing and coaching at all levels. For three years, Coach Winchester was the head coach of the Guatemalan National Team, bringing them their first medals in international competition. 

For the past six years, he has been the founder and head coach of the very successful archery team at Lake Highland Preparatory School in Orlando, Florida. In those six years, his program has trained 12 USAA and NFAA state champions and 4 national medalists in Recurve, Compound, and Barebow, while also becoming State and National Champions in the OAS school league 4 years in a row.

In addition to his coaching at Lake Highland Prep, Coach Winchester has been the AP/Honors Physics teacher there for 8 years, garnering a firm understanding of keeping student athletes balanced with academic and athletic goals.

"It takes an impressive person to lead one of the nations top archery programs, and Coach Winchester will do a fine job. We are confident in his ability to develop the team athletically, academically, and spiritually as he is a great mission fit."
