Baseball Drops Close Game to West Georgia

Franklin Springs, GA - The Emmanuel College Lions took on the Wolves from the University of West Georgia this past Tuesday. It was a close game, but the Lions just fell short 8-5.

The Lions were down early in the game 4-0, but a 4th inning, clutch bases-loaded double from Brock Baughcum plated three huge runs for the Lions. This was after a controversial foul ball off the bat of Parker Runnels that likely should have been ruled a home-run. This put the Lions back in the game, but still trailing by one run.

In the 8th inning, the Lions were down by four, as they tried once again to rally back. They were able to score once again on a ground out and an illegal pitch, but they would be silenced after that.

Cooper Murphy went one shutout inning on the mound for Emmanuel, while Brock Baughcum had a great day at the plate, going 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs.

The Lions will head the King University this weekend for a three game series for Conference Carolinas standings. Emmanuel will look to get some momentum going as they head into the last half of the season.
