Franklin Springs, Ga - Despite a strong performance by the Emmanuel College men's basketball team, the Lions suffered another tough loss, just shy of three points.
The Lions came out strong in the opening minutes with a 14-8 lead. The team got a boost from Elijah Robinson as the Junior guard knocked down several shots in the first half. Along side Robinson in the double figures, was Steven Guinchard who shot several three's. The Falcons slowly began to climb back into the game behind the post plays of Andrew Guerrero. As the Falcons shooting improved, the Lions remained with defensive pressure. The Lions, determined to keep the lead, utilized post plays of Emerson McClung and with a three-point shot right at the halftime mark the Lions lead 42-38 at the break.
In the second half, the Lions created several turn-overs by Kendrick Colvin to help tie the game. But the Falcons also forced turn-overs and used Emmanuel's poor defensive plays to take the lead. Each time the Lions would begin a run, the Falcons would knock down several shots from players like Mike Meeks and De' Vonte Jenkins to gain an upper hand. Slowly the Lions got back into the rhythm with the use of Nathan Williams and Kurtis Robison to cut the lead.
In the closing minutes with the game on the line, the Lions had an opportunity to extend the game, however a missed three-point shot left the Lions just short, ending the game at 80-77. As a result of this loss the Lions fall 8-3 on the season. The Lions will continue action at Belmont Abbey on January 9 at 6:00 p.m.
