Franklin Springs, Ga - Earlier this season, Preiffer handed the Lions one of its three conference losses with a 80-77 upset January 8. However, the Lions learned from this upset and utilized post plays from key players Zach Lillie and Steve Guinchard to steal the win.
In the opening minutes, Steve Guinchard provided the spark for the Lions as the team battled to extend their lead. The team was able to find Willy Akasson down low on the blocks and Zach Lillie took advantage of the defensive mismatches for points in the paint. The Lions also got a boost from Elijah Robinson who provided 11 points off the bench.
At the midway point of the half, the Falcons battled back to take the lead on a 23-22 run at the six minute mark. After a timeout, the Lions looked to climb back into the game and strung together several defensive stops with the use of Kendrick Colvin. The Lions continued to utilize Steve's outside three's and defense from Zach Lillie, to close out the first half with a 30-42 lead into the break.
In the second half, the Lions intensified their offense and worked the ball inside to Kurtis Robinson who converted buckets to give the Lions the lead. The Falcons refused to let the Lions lead upset them, as De'vonte Jenkins rallied the team with 18 points to keep in reach of the game. With just over five minutes to play, Ronnie Stanley scored straight three's for the team to help the Lions take a 46-67 lead. The Falcons tried to mount one last run but the Lions came up with baskets down the stretch to keep and extend the lead, as they held on for a 56-84 win.
The Emmanuel Lions are now 14-4 overall with a 9-3 conference record. The Lions will continue to play with this intensity against the Flying Fleet at Erskine College. Tip off is set at 7:30 p.m.
