Lions defeats Bulldogs for another conference win

Franklin Springs, Ga - From the opening tip, the Lions were looking to establish momentum and pace, but the Lions had a hard time getting shots to fall.  The bulldogs used high tempo style of play to generate shots as the team built a 12-4 lead. Kendrick then came clawing back with several chances to cut into the lead. 

The Bulldogs responded by utilizing to get an upper hand.  Kendrick then came clawing back with intensive offense, he also had a fast break dunk; which halted the Bulldogs defense.  With the half, drawing to a close the Lions began to stretch their lead as key players Elijah Robinson, and Kurtis Robinson to attack the basket and earn trips to the line.  The Lions closed the first half 38-31.

During half time, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee took time to recognize two Emmanuel College faculty members on faculty appreciation night. Dr. Blake Rackley and Dr. Bruce Scranton were each given a plaque in appreciation of the support they show and all that they do for Emmanuel athletics.

In the second half, the Lions came out recharged and rode the energy of the home crowd to build a lead over the Bulldogs. Nate Williams knocked down several three's to extend the lead. Austin Greene also had quiet game as he worked the ball inside for opportunities at the basket.

Down the stretch, the Lions played with a sense of chemistry as they took on their biggest lead 51-72. With over five minutes left to play, Austin Greene came up with clutch baskets for a 65-84 victory.

The Lions are now 16-5 overall and 11-4 in their conference. The Lions will continue action Monday night Feb.15 at North Greenville. Tip off is set at 7:30 p.m.
