Franklin Springs, GA - The Lions came off a thrilling victory on Friday night as the team battled to an 83-75 win over North Greenville University. The Lions were looking to continue their wining streak, as they took on Lee's McRae University Saturday evening.
From the opening tip-off, the Lions looked to establish momentum and pace. The Lions were able to force seven straight defensive stops to start the game as they held the Bobcats to limited scoring. Steve Guinchard and Emerson McClung provided several three's, to help the Lions mount a 26-13 run. With five minutes left in the first half, the Bobcats began to play good defense, and force the Lions into contested shots. The Bobcats closed the double deficit gap, still the Lions remained with the lead and closed the first half 26-36.
In the second half, the Lions came out looking to stretch their lead and halt the defense. Kendrick Colvin knocked down a nice jumper to get things going. The Lions clung to a 51-39 lead. From there, the Bobacts made adjustments to help them get back into the game. Kendall Isler knocked down several baskets to keep the game within reach. The Lions responded by utilizing Emerson McClung's quick speed, to take advantage of their opportunities on offense to keep the lead.
The Lions never lost the lead in the game and also held off the Bobcats in the final possession to finish the game with a 76-89 victory.
The Emmanuel men's basketball team will continue to utilize their high tempo plays as they go against Erskine at the Jack and Jane Shaw Athletic Center, Tuesday Night. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
