Franklin Springs, Ga - The atmosphere was electric and the fans were in full effect as Emmanuel College defeated Erskine College 71-53 on Tuesday night. The Lions were looking to seek revenge, as Erksine College defeated the Lions earlier this season. With this win the Lions now stand 20-5 on the season as they continue their winning streak.
The Lions came into the first half riding the momentum of their hometown fans to jump to a 8-2 advantage. To sustain the momentum, the Lions utilized Senior Guard Steven Guinchard to knock down several three's. The Lions continued to pour it on as Emerson McClung also shot several three's. Down the stretch the Flying Fleet began chipping away at the lead as they utilized Joby Glymph. Still the Lions remained with the lead and finished the first half 39-22.
In the second half, the Lions came out looking to continue to ride the momentum from the first half. The Lions began to fire away as Junior Guard Kurtis Robinson drove to the lane to for several shots. Slowly the Lions began to play poor defense and let the Flying Fleet cut the lead to 42-55.
With under five minutes remaining, the Lions called for a timeout. The Lions were now energized and ready to get revenge from there upset earlier this season against Erskine College. The Lions continuously utilized Steven Gunichard as he fired away, with several three's. In the final possession the Lions controlled all aspects of the game in 71-53 win.
The men will now travel to Barton University on Friday Night. Tip off is set at 7:30 p.m.
