Wilson, NC - The Lions continue their winning streak as Steven Guinchard powered the team with16 points, Friday night. The Emmanuel men's basketball defeated the Bulldogs on their senior night, and now stand with 21-5 as their overall record.
In the opening minutes, both teams traded baskets as the score remained close. The Lions were able to work the ball inside to Zach Vess who was able to capitalize. The Bulldogs kept the game close as they created several turn-overs, and took advantage of the Lions poor offense.
In the second half, the Lions came out strong with multiple buckets to extend their lead. Zach Lillie silenced the crowd, as he drove to the lane with a fast-break dunk. The Lions also utilized Elijah Robinson to capitalize on their offense to extend their lead by 17 points. From there the Bulldogs sensed the upset and called a timeout.
The Bulldogs tried to gain a rhythm by utilizing Danny Shand to gain an upper hand. From there, their offense began to tighten up as they forced the Lions into tough shots. The team got a boost from Kendrick Colvin as worked the ball inside. With each possession, the Lions allowed their defense to fuel their offense to help them continue to lead. As the final buzzer sounded, the Lions held on to their winning streak and ended the game with a 93-69 win .
As the Lions continue their winning streak, they will play against Bob Jones University at the Jack and Jane Shaw Athletic Center. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
