The Lions Conquered the North Greenville Crusaders

Franklin Springs, G.A- The Men's Emmanuel Basketball Team added another loss to the North Greenville Crusaders losing streak with a final score of 59-72. The top scorers of the game were Ronnie Stanley, Colton Collins and Austin Greene. The top rebounders were Zach Vess and Kurtis Robinson.

 

Colton Collins started out the first half of the game with two back-to-back jump shots. Colton Collins then scored a layup, as well as, his first 3-pointer of the game. That is a total of nine points by himself in the first four minutes of the half. Zach Vess was fouled by the Crusaders and landed one of his two free throws. Zach Vess made a layup, then the Crusaders followed by scoring two. Zach Vess passed the ball to Ronnie Stanley who made his first 3-pointer of the game. Austin Greene made a layup and the Crusaders were unable to score. Kurtis Robinson grabbed a defensive rebound which led to Ronnie Stanley making his second 3-pointer of the game, just a minute after his first one. The Lions were now up by ten, 10-20. Trevor Jain stole the ball from the Crusaders when they recovered a defensive rebound from the Lions and passed to Ronnie Stanley. Ronnie Stanley scored his third 3-pointer. Ronnie Stanley turned right around and was on fire when he scored his fourth 3-pointer of the game. The Crusaders tried to make a comeback and were down by two when Ronnie Stanley made a layup which meant the Lions were now up by 4. The Crusaders soon came back and tied the game just to take the lead a few seconds after. Ronnie Stanley gained the lead back for the Lions with his fifth 3-pointer of the game. Austin Greene would end up closing out the first half of the game with a layup and allowing the Lions to keep the lead with a final score of 32-33.

 

The second half of the game started out with Emerson McClung making a clean jump shot. Zach Lillie added four points to the board and Austin Greene added two of his own. Zach Vess was fouled off the bat and made both of his free throws. Trevor Jain came through with his first 3-pointer of the game. Zach Lillie put up a layup once again and that brought the Lions up by 10, 38-48. Zach Lillie stole the ball from the Crusaders and passed to Ronnie Stanley who made a layup. Zach Lillie followed with a layup of his own. Austin Greene made his first 3-pointer of the game increasing the Lions lead to a 13-point lead. Austin Green rebounded his own shot and gave Ronnie Stanley the chance to make his sixth 3-pointer of the game and he landed it. The Lions were now up fourteen points, but the Crusaders came back some and shrunk the lead to only being down by ten. Austin Greene was fouled and made both of his free throws. Ronnie Stanley came through and stole the ball from the Crusaders as they were charging down the court and passed the ball to Colton Collins who added two points to the board, which brought the Lions back up to a fourteen-point lead. Colton Collins made his first 3-pointer of the game and then was fouled. Austin Greene and Kurtis Robinson made two free throws a piece which would end the game. The final score of the game was 59-72, with a win for the Lions.

 

The Lions now hold an overall record of 10-4, with a conference record of 5-1. The Emmanuel Lions will play their next game at home on Wednesday Jan. 11th against Limestone. That game will begin at 7:30 P.M.
