Franklin Springs, G.A.- The Emmanuel Men's Basketball Team defeated King University with a final score of 82-85. This game came down to last few minutes, but the Lions pulled it off. Ronnie Stanley led the Lions in scoring with 26 points. He was followed by Emerson McClung with 16 points. Ronnie Stanley also snagged the most total rebounds of the game.

Zach Lillie started a trail of 3-pointers when he cleared his first one. Austin Greene followed with his first 3-pointer. Ronnie Stanley got the Lions up 4-9 with his first 3-pointer of the game. Kurtis Robinson made his jump shot and then was fouled. He cleared one of his free throws. The Lions had lost the lead the lead to King at this point and worked hard to get it back. Points were put up by Zach Lillie, Derek Vandiver and Emerson McClung. Derek Vandiver stole the ball from King and put up his first two 3-pointers. Zach Lillie stole the ball from King next which allowed for Emerson McClung to put up his first 3-pointer of the game. The Lions regained the lead with Derek Vandiver's second 3-pointer. Kurtis Robinson was fouled again and cleared a free throw. Zach Vess was fouled next and made one free throw. King tied the game up 25-25, but Ronnie Stanley stole the lead back with his second 3-pointer of the game. Ronnie Stanley came right back around and cleared his third 3-pointer. Emerson McClung flew down the court with help from Austin Greene and dunked on King. Emerson McClung snagged a rebound and Ronnie Stanley would clear his fourth 3-pointer of the game. Zach Vess charged down the court with help from Kurtis Robinson and was the next to dunk over King. The first half ended with Austin Greene stealing the ball from King and was fouled. He cleared both of his free throws, but the first half ended with the Lions down 45-42.

Ronnie Stanley got the second half started off strong with his fifth 3-pointer of the game. Zach Vess blocked a huge shot by King in attempts to stop them from scoring. Emerson McClung tried to bridge the gap by making his second 3-pointer. Emerson McClung was followed by Austin Greene and Ronnie Stanley. Austin Greene putting up his second 3-pointer and Ronnie Stanley clearing his sixth 3-pointer. Emerson McClung rolled right back down the court to score his third 3-pointer. Emerson McClung was fouled and made both of his free throw shots, which would put the Lions back in front. Colton Collins scored his first points of the game with a 3-pointer. Austin Greene snagged a rebound, passing to Derek Vandiver who gave the ball to Ronnie Stanley for his seventh completed 3-pointer of the game. Ronnie Stanley turned back around to grab a rebound from King and put the ball up for his eighth 3-pointer. Emerson McClung made a layup and Zach Vess was fouled. Zach Vess added one point to the board which left the Lions down 77-73. Kurtis Robinson was fouled back-to-back and added three points to the game. Kurtis Robinson then stole the ball from King and put up a layup for two points. Emerson McClung was fouled and tied the game up 79-79 with two minutes left. With one minute left, Zach Vess made a layup to bring the Lions up 79-81. King came right back and gained the lead by one point. Ronnie Stanley was fouled with 19 seconds left and made of his free throws.  The Lions were now up by one point. Kurtis Robinson was fouled and cleared both of his free throws. The Lions were now up by three points with thirteen seconds left. King had the ball, went for a 3-pointer, but Ronnie Stanley caught the ball mid-air and the buzzer went off. The Lions were victorious!

The Lions now hold a record of 11-7, with a conference record of 6-4. They will play at home against Barton on Tuesday Jan. 24th. That game will begin at 7:30 P.M.
