Emmanuel Men's Basketball Lose to North Greenville

Tigerville, SC- The Men's Emmanuel Basketball Team traveled to play North Greenville in a tough conference game, but lost the lead in the last few minutes. The final score of the game was 56-62. Ronnie Stanley completely led the Lions in scoring with a total of 18-points.

Austin Greene started out the first half with a steal from the Crusaders allowing Ronnie Stanley to put up his first 3-pointer of the game. Zach Vess recovered an offensive rebound and made a jump shot. Kurtis Robinson scored a layup next to put the Lions in front 7-6. Emerson McClung assisted Zach Lillie with a dunk over North Greenville in the first nine minutes. Ronnie Stanley put up his second 3-pointer and followed up with an assist for a dunk by Emerson McClung. Lions were now leading 17-11. Nick Scheimann made his first 3-pointer of the game after the media last media timeout of the half. Zach Vess made a jump shot. Next up was Ronnie Stanley with his third 3-pointer of the game. Zach Lillie ended the first half with a jump shot which would leave the Lions in lead 29-22.

The second half began like the first with a steal by Austin Greene where he would make a layup. Kurtis Robinson stole the ball next from the Crusaders and added two points to the board. Colton Collins scored his first 3-pointer of the game. Emerson McClung stole the ball from the Crusaders and Zach Lillie snagged the offensive rebound from a shot made. Zach Lillie would pass the ball to Zach Vess who set up a dunk for Zach Lillie. Zach Vess was fouled and made both of his free throws. Emerson McClung was fouled twice and made 3 out of 4 shots. Zach Vess stole the ball from North Greenville where Ronnie Stanley would make his fourth 3-pointer. With less than five minutes left, the Lions had lost the lead and were down 49-54. Derek Vandiver put up his first 3-pointer and was followed by Ronnie Stanley's fifth 3-pointer. Austin Greene made a jump shot and the Lions were down three points with 51 seconds left on the clock. The Lions didn't score again, but did foul on the Crusaders. The gamed ended with that and the final score was 56-62.

The Lions now hold an overall record of 11-9, with a conference record of 6-6. The Lions have one more away game on Wednesday Feb. 1st at King. That game will begin at 7:30 P.M.
