Lions Defeat Belmont Abbey by 36-Points

Franklin Springs, G.A- The Emmanuel Men's Basketball Team take on Belmont Abbey at home. The top scorers of tonight's game were Kurtis Robinson and Zach Lillie. Ronnie Stanley snagged the most rebounds.

Austin Greene started off the first half with a 3-pointer. Ronnie Stanley stole the ball from Belmont Abbey and put up his first 3-pointer to put the Lions up 0-6. Kurtis Robinson put up a jump shot and Zach Lillie would be fouled. Zach Lillie made one of his free throws. Emerson McClung made a jump shot. Zach Lillie stole the ball from Belmont to put up a layup. Ronnie Stanley cleared his second 3-pointer. Belmont missed a shot which was recovered by Austin Greene who made a jump shot. Ronnie Stanley snagged a defensive rebound allowing Zach Lillie to make a layup. After a timeout by Emmanuel, Austin Greene cleared his second 3-pointer. Kurtis Robinson blocked a shot by Belmont, but Belmont snagged the rebound. Colton Collins soared the ball into the basket with his first 3-pointer of the game. Kurtis Robinson grabbed an offensive rebound to put the ball in. Colton Collins stole the ball from Belmont and Zach Lillie put up a layup. He was fouled in the process and made his free throw.  Zach Lillie put up a jump shot and then stole the ball back from Belmont. Kurtis Robinson made a layup with an assist by Emerson McClung. Emerson McClung was fouled and made both of his shots. Derek Vandiver made back-to-back 3-pointers. Derek was fouled at the 3-point line and made all three of his free throws. His free throws would end the first half with the Lions up 20-47.

Kurtis Robinson started the second half with a layup. Then, he came through with a huge block on Belmont, but no points were scored. Ronnie Stanley stole the ball from Belmont to put up his third 3-pointer. Kurtis Robinson made a jump shot and then turned around to steal the ball back from Belmont. Emerson McClung made a layup followed by Austin Greene, who added two more points to the board Kurtis Robinson came through with another steal and Ronnie Stanley made his fourth 3-pointer. Ronnie Stanley snagged a defensive rebound to let Zach Lillie put up a layup. Sam Turner was fouled and made his free throw. Kurtis Robinson made a jump shot. Nick Scheimann entered the game and cleared his first 3-pointer of the game putting the Lions up by 31-points. Colton Collins put up a jump shot to increase their even more. With ten minutes left in the game, Zach Lillie cleared a jump shot to increase their lead 32-73. Austin Greene stole the ball from Belmont and Derek Vandiver put up his third 3-pointer. Kurtis Robinson gained a defensive rebound and scored a jump shot which would push the Lions lead to 40-points. Sam Turner made a layup with an assist from Emerson McClung. Nick Scheimann made his second 3-pointer. Sam Turner made a layup and was fouled. He cleared both of his free throws. He would be fouled once more and cleared both shots again. The game ended with a final score of 56-92.

The Lions now hold an overall record of 12-10, with a Carolina Conference record of 7-7. The Lions will play their next game away at Lees-McRae on Tuesday Jan. 7th. That game will begin at 7:30 P.M.
