Due West, S.C.- The Emmanuel Men's Basketball Team went away to take on Erskine in their last conference game of their regular season. The guys came out in front with a final score of 65-52. Austin Greene scored the most points for the Lions and Zach Lillie snagged the most rebounds.
The first half started out with Ronnie Stanley clearing his first 3-pointer in the first minute. Austin Greene put up his first two points with the help of a defensive rebound by Kurtis Robinson. Ronnie Stanley came right back to put up his second 3-pointer. Austin Greene was fouled and made his free throw. The Lions soon took the game away 12-6 with a 3-pointer by Derek Vandiver. Emerson McClung was fouled and completed his two shots. Zach Lillie snagged a defensive rebound to charge down the court for a layup. Jack Fitzpatrick entered the game and set up Emerson McClung for the first dunk of the game. Emerson McClung was fouled two more times and added four points to the board. Kurtis Robinson stole the ball from Erskine allowing Austin Greene to make a layup. This brought the Lions up 29-12. Austin Greene was fouled twice more to add 3-points to the board. Derek Vandiver ended the first half with his second 3-pointer. The Lions were up 36-22.
Erskine started out the first half the same way they ended the first. Emerson McClung was fouled as soon as the half started and added two points to the board. Austin Greene made a layup to add to his point collection tonight. Zach Lillie made a free throw. Austin Greene came around his man to snag an offensive rebound. He recovered the miss score by putting up his first 3-pointer of the game. He turned around and put his second 3-pointer up bringing the Lions up 50-31. Derek Vandiver entered the game and put up his third 3-pointer. Emerson McClung pulled up a nice jump shot to put the Lions up 55-40. Zach Lillie had a huge block against Erskine, grabbed the rebound, and charged down the court for a layup. He was fouled and made both of his throws. Kurtis Robinson made a layup and a free throw. Ronnie Stanley and Derek Vandiver were fouled to add three points to the board to end the game. The Lions won 65-52.
The Lions season record is 17-11, with a Carolina Conference record of 12-8. The Lions had a overall well season and are thankful for the support of their fans. They will begin Regional's on Tuesday Feb. 7th.
