Men's Basketball Falls to Mount Olive in Double Overtime

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College Men's Basketball Team took on Mount Olive University for Saturday's game. After coming off a three game win streak, the Lions fell short in double overtime.

The Lions started off strong and took an early lead after a layup from Emerson McClung (#3). While the Trojans continued to put up points of their own, the Lions maintained the lead into halftime with a score of 43-37.

Things began to look up for the Trojans early on in the 2nd half when Mount Olive finally began to close in on the Lions. There were several lead changes, then the Lions hoped to close out the game with under 30 seconds left. With a lead of 83-82, Emmanuel fouled Mount Olive. On the Line, The Trojans missed their first free throw, but made the second to tie the game at 83-83 and force the game into its first overtime. 

Just like the final few seconds in the 2nd half, it came down to a free throw, this time from Emmanuel. The Trojans led 93-92 before Kurtis Robinson (#2) stepped on the line. After missing his first shot, Robinson made the 2nd free throw to tie the game at 93-93 and force it into a 2nd overtime. 

In the 2nd overtime, Mount Olive led the entire time. Emmanuel was unable to score in the critical moments, and the Trojans took the victory 105-101.

With this loss, Emmanuel's record is 3-3 overall, 1-1 conference. Kendrick Colvin (#23) led the Lions with 29 points, followed closely behind by Emerson McClung (#3) with 20 points.

The Lions will play their next game on the road at Barton College On Saturday, Dec. 9th.
