Lions Basketball Shuts Down King

BRISTOL, Tn. - The Emmanuel College men's basketball team defeated King University, 80-56, on Wednesday night. This win brings the Lions record to 19-7 overall, 12-1 conference.

In their first meetup of the season, the Lions barely scraped by with a one-point victory. This time the Lions didn't leave it to chance as they grabbed an early lead and never let up.

The Lions shot 51.6% from the floor compared to the Tornado's 37.7%. Four Lions put up double-digits including two double-doubles from both Sophomore Brandon Simpson and Senior Kendrick Colvin

An immediate six point rally helped the Lions gain control of the game. The Tornado would fire back five minutes in with a stretch of 9 points to close their deficit to just 2 points. Emmanuel then responded with a strong first half finish to lead 42-28 into halftime.

Upon returning to the court, the Lions continued their display of dominance. Their pace never slowed down as the Lions reached their largest lead of the night with their final basket, 80-56.

Next up, the Lions will return home for a conference match against Mount Olive on Saturday, February 9th at 4:00pm.
