Men's Bowling Takes 1st Place at SCAD Baker Shootout

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College Men's and Women's Bowling Teams both took 1st place at this weekend's SCAD Baker Shootout in Savannah, GA. SCAD Savannah hosted the event which consisted of 10 Men's Varsity Teams and 6 Women's Varsity Teams. 

The men's field consisted of the defending national champions and currently #4 ranked, Webber International University, as well as current #21 Springhill College. On the women's side, 3 of the six teams are currently ranked in the top 20, #15 Emmanuel, #16 Springhill, and #18 SCAD Savannah. 

The teams bowled 36 Baker games Saturday and Sunday with the top 4 Men and Women's teams advancing to a best two out three match play to determine the Tournament Champions. Emmanuel Men went into match play as the #4 seed and defeated #1 seed Webber International 2-1, from there they would go on and defeat the host Team, SCAD Savannah 2-0 to win the Tournament. The EC women entered Sunday's quailing in 3rd place but would move into the top spot in the last four game block and enter match play as the #1 seed. The ladies would defeat the #4 seed SCAD Atlanta 2-0, then go on to win the Championship by defeating SCAD Savannah 2-1. 

This would be the First time in EC bowling History that both the Men and Women sweep an event. 

The Men and Women will be back in action this upcoming weekend in their first Tier 1 event of the season, The Brunswick Southern Open, in Marietta, GA.
