Men's Lacrosse Team Helps WWP

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – Emmanuel College enjoyed for a second year at the annual "Faceoff for a Cause"  event hosted by the Berry College's men's lacrosse team on Saturday, October 22 at Berry College, raising a total donation of just over $10,000 for the nonprofit organization, Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) which Emmanuel contributed over $650.00 through the sale of t-shirts to friends and family of the EC men's lacrosse team.

The amount raised was right on the mark with an official final tally of $10,003.46. This goal of $10,000 was a benchmark that the event hoped to raise in year one but fell short with $7,000. In only two short years, the event has raised over $16,700 for the organization.

Emmanuel was joined by other men's lacrosse programs from Birmingham-Southern College, Catawba College, Georgia Tech, North Greenville University, Sewanee University of the South and Young Harris College. These programs, helped the Vikings raise money and awareness for our nation's injured servicemen and women.

The event included scrimmages between the eight teams and a mid-day Wounded Warrior address. Over 500 people attended the event with all gate proceeds donated to WWP. These gate proceeds, coupled with the online donations totaled $2,548.80. Additionally, funds were raised by the respective lacrosse programs through t-shirt sales, accounting for a total donation of $4,603.66.

The Vikings have announced they will be hosting the event again in the fall of 2017 with hopes to increase funds raised.
