Lions Fall to Saint Leo

Franklin Springs, GA – The Lions hosted the Saint Leo University for their fifth game of the season,  a non-conference game. The Lions had a tough time in this game stopping Saint Leo from scoring. They lost 3-26. The Lions has only played one conference game with 6 more games to go, they still have time to improve.

On the offensive front, junior Tyler Machado  led the Lions with 2 goals early on the first half. Freshman Camren Bent  contributed with 1 goal. Sophomore Seth Wilson led the team with 2 groundballs out of 7, trying to stop the Saint Leo from scoring more goals.  Senior Austin Brundage was responsible for the only one assistance of the game. He helped Tyler Machado with the first goal in the first half of the game. Sadly, during the first half of the game, Sophomore Alec Ammons twisted his ankle trying to get the ball, and was out for the rest of the game, which did not help the defensive side of the team.

Defensively, the team had 16 caused turnovers. Freshman Christopher Gerstmyer and junior Roman Tavani  led the team with 2 for each one. In the goal for the entire 60 minutes, freshman Luke Harris had 9 saves out of 35 shots taken against him. Harris did well to save shots against a strong offensive effort from the Saint Leo. The team successfully completed 15-23 clears. The Lions suffered 4 penalties but also had 4 penalties go against the Saint Leo. They had 3 minutes on 4 infractions.

The Lions will be back in action on Saturday, March 11th at 2:00 PM at Tusculum College.
