Franklin Springs, GA - This week Athletes of The Week are Senior Emma Tamblyn from Women's Swimming and Sophomore Blair Springhall from Men's Soccer.
Senior Emma Tamblyn is from New South Whales, Australia and has been a part of the women's swim team for three years and also, Emma has been a member of Emmanuel's women's soccer team for 4 years. Emma has been a big part of the swim team, holding a few individual school records and also holding school records in relay teams. This past weekend at Emma's last home meet of her colligate career, she helped the Lions defeat Berry College while receiving two 1st place finished and two 2nd place finishes and getting a new school record in the 200 breast.
What a way for Emma to end her collegiate career with getting a new school record and being athlete of the week, with her graduating in December.
Next up for Emma and the swim team, they will be competing in the Brenau Invitational on November 18th and 19th.
Sophomore Blair Springhall is from Dunfermline, Scotland and has been a part of the Men's Soccer team for two years. Blair has been a huge part the of the soccer teams offense and defense. This past weekend the team traveled to Embry-Riddle to compete in a tournament Embry-Riddle hosted. Blair helped the Lions win their last two games in their regular season with contributing two goals in two games. His first goals against AUM was an amazing shot from 50 yards out bring the Lions to a 4-2 win. In the Lions second game against Embry-Riddle, Blair scored the game winning goal in a 2-0 win.
These two wins earned the Lions their 10th and 11th wins of the 2016 season, marking the first 11 game win season in nearly five years.
The Lions soccer team will now compete in the NCCAA Regional Tournament, hosted by Emmanuel College on November 18th and 19th.
