Men’s Soccer Defeated in the NCCAA Regional Final

Franklin Springs, GA - This evening, the men's soccer team competed in the NCCAA Regional Championship final, which was hosted at home by Emmanuel College.

Yesterday, Southern Wesleyan University defeated Columbia International University in the semifinals, which advanced them to today's final where they faced Emmanuel.

With the NCCAA nationals at stake, both teams displayed their hunger for the win, making this an intense final. Southern Wesleyan took a total of 18 shots and Emmanuel took a total of 23, but neither team was able to find the net throughout the entire match, which led to overtime. With the score still tied at 0-0 following both overtime periods, the match was determined by a shootout. In the shootout, Nico Becker, Nick Miller, Sean Fitz Gerald, Channing Park, and Craig Russell shot for the Lions. Sean Fitz Gerald and Craig Russell missed their penalty kicks, which gave Southern Wesleyan the 4-3 win over the Lions.

Congratulations to the Lions on their great season!
