Men's Soccer ties with Shaw in opening match of the season

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. — The Emmanuel College men's soccer team tied in the first game of the season, hosted by the Lions, against Shaw University's Bears. 
 
Shaw tallied three shots on goal, versus Emmanuel's ambitious 14. Despite outshooting Shaw, the Lions' shots were met with nine saves by the Bears.
 
Shaw took the lead with the first goal at the end of the first half at 24:24, but the Lions fought to take the game into overtime with a goal by Val Evans.
 
Neither team was able to score again, resulting in a 1-1 tie at the end of double overtime.
 
Congratulations to the Lions on a well-played first game of the season!
 
Emmanuel's Men's Soccer team will play their next game against Clayton State on Sept. 3 at 6 p.m.
