Lions Fall to Clayton State at Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - In their second match of the season, Emmanuel's Men's Soccer team played a tough match against Clayton State University.
 
Early on, the Lakers were able to capitlize with the first goal of the game. Emmanuel would attempt to even the score with several shots, but Clayton State would end the first half up 1-0.
 
After coming back from half time, Clayton State was once again able to score an early goal, widening the gap 2-0. The Lions would then turn up the heat with 5 shots, including a narowly missed header from Joshua Smith that hit the crossbar. With 20:35 left on the clock, Emanuel's Sam Mutton scored with a header, assisted by Shane Cronin to bring the score to 2-1, Clayton State.
 
The match neared the end with a save by goalie Andy Dunnett after a final shot by Clayton at 89:49. 
 
The Lions' next game will be Sept. 9 at 2:30 p.m. against Chowan.
