MARS HILL, N.C. - The Emmanuel College men's soccer team continued action on the road against Mars Hill on Sunday. Despite their valiant efforts, they were defeated 2-1.
The Lions maintained possession early in the match, with four shots and two corner kicks before allowing the Mars Hill Lions any opportunity to score. Despite their strong start, an errant clearing attempt from Emmanuel put the opposing Lions in position to fire a shot low and inside the left post. The first half would come to a close with Emmanuel facing a 1-0 deficit.
Just three minutes later, the Lions of Mars Hill broke away from Emmanuel defense and tucked a shot low under a diving Kenneth Vining. This shot proved to be the game-winning play for Mars Hill.
Next up for the Lions is a match against Point University in West Point, Georgia on Wednesday, Sept. 5th at 6:00 pm.
