Men’s Swimming Finishes 2nd in Season Opener

Franklin Springs, GA - The lions swim season kicked off at home with the Conference Carolina's relay meet on Saturday, October 1st, 2016 at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, GA.

The men's relays began with the 300-yard fly relay Aleksandrowicz, Brown, and Raczynski (2:43.36) placed 2nd followed by Perry, Williamson, and Bonna (2:59.22) placing 3rd. Pendergraft, Reichenbach, and Aleksandrowicz (2:46.13) placed 2nd and Perry, Williamson, and Bonna (3:15.71) placed 4th in the men's 300-yard back relay. The Men's 300-yard breast followed with Stigant, Carrasquilla, and Jones (3:04.55) placing 1st and Perry, Roberts, and Bonna (3:29.83) placed 3rd.

The men's 800 yard free relay included Raczynski, Armes, Williamson and Pendergraft (7:27.70) placing 2nd, followed by the men's 500 yard free relay with Reichenbach, Stigant, Aleksandrowicz and Raczynski (4:17.88) placing 1st and Foxworth, Roberts, Jones and Armes (4:42.16) placed 3rd.  The 1500 yard free included Armes, Williamson, and Raczynski (14:56.57) and Bonna, Perry, and Foxworth (18:34.79) placing 3rd. The men's 100 yard free relay included Reichenbach, Brown, Stigant, and Carrasquilla (42.74) placed 2nd and Roberts, Pendergraft, Foxworth and Armes (45.13) placed 4th.

The men's 400 yard medley relay included Pendergraft, Carrasquilla, Brown and Jones (3:50.09) placing 3rd and Brown, Carrasquilla, Roberts and Foxworth (1:35.85) finishing 3rd in the men's 200 yard free relay. Finally, the 400-yard medley relay included Aleksandrowicz, Jones, Stigant, and Reichenbach (3:39.90) placed 2nd.

The Lions finished 2nd behind conference rival Limestone College.
 
Coach Gilchrest commented; "Our men swam great today, our upper classmen are swimming much faster than this same time last year and our new freshmen guys are adding so much to our team depth. I am thankful for the ways God is blessing our team each week, it is so much fun to be a part of!".
 
The Lions are home again this Saturday, October 8th, in a Quad meet vs. Bethel University, Point University and Campbellsville University. Meet starts at 11am. GO LIONS!
