Gainesville, GA --- Pedro Illescas was selected as the men's Swimmer of the Week for the Appalachian Swimming Conference, by the CSCAA (Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America), for the second time this semester.
A freshman from Orihuela, Spain, Illescas helped the Emmanuel men's swim team win the 6th annual Brenau Invitational, Nov. 18-19, 2016 at the Francis Meadows Aquatic Center in Gainesville, GA; by winning 7 out of his 8 events! In the process, Illescas earned 3 NCAA Div. II national cuts and 6 Emmanuel school records. His only loss came in the 100 back, where he finished 2nd to Emmanuel teammate, Adrian Aleksandrowicz.

Emmanuel College swimming is in its third season as a member of the Appalachian Swimming Conference. Each week, coaches nominate one male and one female athlete. Coaches then vote on who to select as "Swimmer of the Week". There are 13 teams in the ASC including: Alderson Broaddus, Brenau, Emmanuel, King, Keiser, LaGrange, Mars Hill, Malone, Notre Dame, Urbana, Warren Wilson, West Virginia Wesleyan, Wheeling Jesuit.
