SOBERS HEADED TO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

WINDSOR, CANADA --- Emmanuel men's swimming freshmen Alex Sobers (Bridgetown, Barbados) will represent his home country of Barbados in the 2016 World Championships. Sobers will compete in 4 events.  The men's 50, 100, 200, and 400 short course meter freestyle events, during the World Championships (December 6-11).

The FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) is a bi-annual event that has grown dramatically over the past 23 years. The 13th edition of these Championships to be staged in Windsor will host over 1,000 of the world's best swimmers from 172 countries for 6 days of intense competition in a unique theatrical setting at the WFCU Centre.
This past August, Sobers represented his home country of Barbados in the 2016 Rio Olympics. The then, incoming freshmen competed in the men's 400m freestyle on Saturday August 6th, finishing 44th overall in a time of 3:59.97. This was the first Emmanuel College athlete to compete in an Olympic Games. Now Sobers will be the first Emmanuel College athlete to compete in a World Championships. GO LIONS!
