Men's Swimming Sets 3 Conference Records On Day 1

Christiansburg, VA: On Day 1 of the 10th Annual Appalachian Swimming Conference Championships the EC lions competed in the first 2 events the 800 freestyle relay and the 1000 freestyle.


In the 800 free relay, freshmen Alex Sobers lead off the relay with 1:39.25 (a new EC school record, ASC conference record, and NCAA Div. II national cut). The relay of Sobers, Illescas, Raczynski, and Mendoza finished 1st in 6:44.74 (a new EC school record, ASC conference record by 7 seconds, and the men's 1st NCAA Div. II national cut for a relay). 

In the 1000 free, Stanislas Raczynski placed 1st (9:30.70) setting a new EC school record, ASC conference record, and NCAA Div. II national cut. Freshmen Richard Williamson placed 8th (10:19.58), Senior Hayden Pendergraft 14th (10:44.18), and Nathan Armes 10th (10:29.28).

Alex Sobers "This is my first conference champs as a college Athlete and I am humbled and excited to say that it was with the Emmanuel College swim team. I hope we continue to do well these next few days and come home with lots of firsts!" GO LIONS!
