Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel College Men's Tennis Team tested the cross town rivals Southern Wesleyan at the Franklin County High School Tennis Courts.
The Lions opened up the match with two wins, at #1 and $3, out of the three doubles. The Forehand and Anglin took care of business with a quick 8-2 win, but the Spanish/Brazilian team formed by Pereira and Alcacer had to fight back and get a tight win at the tie-break. In singles, the Warriors proved to be at the top of their game by defeating the Lions at #1 and #5. With the overall score now 3-2 in favor of Southern Wesleyan, it the Lions turn to get some more wins, now by the hands of Freshman Enrique Alcacer, at #3 seed, and Louis Malejka, at #4. The Warriors tied everything back by capturing one more win at #2. With the match now tied at 4-4, it all came down to the last court and the warriors once again came up on top to clinch the match. Coach Darbar commented, "it is never easy to lose matches like this one. The season is not over though, so we will keep moving forward and keep training hard every single day. The boys played well and the victory could've gone either way today. Congrats to Coach Jernigan and the Southern Wesleyan's Team for the win. At the end of the day, they played better than us and they deserved the win."
The Lions will be back in action after the Spring Break where they travel to the University of North Georgia campus to play University of Illinois – Springfield. First serve scheduled for 2PM.
