Lions down Flying Fleet at conference opener!

Due West, SC – The Emmanuel College Tennis Team traveled to Erskine College this Thursday for the first conference Carolinas match of the season.

The Lions started the event very strong and focused to earn important points in doubles matches. With an impeccable performance, the #3 doubles Canadas/Watteeuw captured the first point of the day by a convincing 8-1 win. Not too long after, the #1 team formed by Forehand/Pereira put the Lions ahead with a 2-0 lead with a 8-4 win. On court #2, Alcacer/Romero rallied throughout the match but after finally found their best tennis during a tense tie-break and won the last possible doubles' point of the day by a tight 8-7.

With a 3-0 lead, the Lions were looking for two more wins. The first point came from the Freshman, Guillaumme Watteeuw by 6-1 6-2. Emmanuel noted another victory with Lucas Pereira by 6-3 7-5 and two extra ones with Braden Anglin and David Forehand.

At the end of the day, The Lions Tennis Team defeated the Flying Fleet by an overall score of 7-2.

Next, EC will host the NCAA D-I, The Citadel at home. First serve is schedule for 5PM!
