Crusaders down Lions in Conference Play

Tigerville, SC – The Emmanuel College Tennis Team Traveled to the home of the North Greenville Crusaders for a Conference Carolinas match.

With the doubles matches on the way under heavy winds, the lions faced serious problems to find their best game on the courts. The matches were marked by mistakes from both sides but the Crusaders seemed to be more used to the climatic circumstances and closed all three doubles to start the day 3-0 ahead of the Lions. Emmanuel had their best chances on courts #1, Forehand/Anglin, and #3, Canadas/Watteeuw, but they both were won by North Greenville by identical 8-4 scores.

Looking to get better results in singles, EC continued to brave the weather, but fell short on courts #1, Juan Carlos Romero, #3 Enrique Alcacer, #4 Braden Anglin, #5 Guillaume Watteeuw, and #6 Dustin Dodson. The Lions best match came from the hands of the freshman Jorge Canadas who was able to dominate the first set by 6-0 but dropped the second by 6-3. The match got intense and was decided on the Super Tie-Breaker by 10-8, favoring the Crusader.

The Lions will keep playing this week at another Conference Match, now serving as host for Belmont Abbey College this Friday. First serve is scheduled for 10AM!
