Mt. Vernon, GA - The Emmanuel College Men's Tennis Team traveled to the home of the Brewton Parker Barons for a NCCAA Regional Match.
The Lions were looking strong at the start of the doubles and without wasting much time all courts were up a break, favoring the visitors. The first point of the afternoon happened on court #3 with Canadas / Pereira by a quick 8-1. Not too far behind the Freshmen Johansen / Jarry earned the second point for the Lions by 8-3 with a solid performance at the net. Lastly, Romero / Alcacer gave the last possible point of the day to Emmanuel by 8-2.
With a comfortable 3-0 lead after doubles, the EC Tennis Team was looking for just two more wins to clinch the event. The Freshmen from Paris, France, Tom Jarry, looked too solid and did not drop a single game to win by a perfect 6-0 6-0 score. Jarry's double partner followed his teammate footsteps by unloading powerful forehands from the baseline to clinch the dual match by 6-1 6-0. Emmanuel did not slow down and also earned two extra points today. First with the Freshman, Brandon Wilson on court #4 who saw his opponent retired after Wilson got the upper hand in the second set, winning by 3-6 3-0 (ret). Lastly, the Junior Enrique Alcacer had to work his best tennis on the first set before cruising for a win on the second, with a final score of 6-4 6-0.
The Lions will have a little break before they serve as host to a NCAA Regional foe, the Lenoir Rhyne Bears. First serve is schedule for this Saturday at 1PM.
