Matched up against another tough conference opponent, the Lions put their best foot forward, but fell short to the Flying Fleet.
Set one went to Erskine who took a demanding lead early in the set. The Lions tried to fight back, but couldn't close the gap, losing the first set. With a little momentum behind them, Erskine continued to roll through set two.
In a must win set, the Lions stepped up their game, showing a huge increase in their motivation to win. While Erskine delivered some big kills, the Lions returned some of their own. A combination of hustle and heart allowed the Lions to close out set three. The final set went to Erskine, closing out the match 19-25, 18-25, 25-21, 19-25.
This loss put the Lions at 4-7 overall and 2-7 in the conference. The Lions were led by Alex Barbosa with 20 kills.
The Lions will resume action Thursday, Feb. 18 as they travel to Belmont Abbey. The game is set to start at 7:00 PM.
