The Lions will be having a GO GOLD for Kids with Cancer night on
Thursday February 22nd @ 7pm vs Conference Carolina rival Erskine College.
Fans are encouraged to wear gold/yellow from head to toe (there will be some fun stuff given out at the door as well to wear)
Childhood cancer is the number one disease-related cause of death in the United States. Two-thirds of all children who survive will face a chronic side effect from the toxicity of their cancer treatment, with one quarter of these being severe to life-threatening. For those who survive, two-thirds will also endure chronic health conditions from the toxic side effects of cancer treatment, including secondary cancers and other life-threatening illnesses. Despite these devastating statistics, only 3 new drugs have been approved by the FDA for specific treatment of pediatric cancer in the last 20 years. This compares to more than 182 cancer drugs approved by the FDA to treat adult cancer during the same period of time.
Emmanuel College Mens Volleyball players and staff invite you to support the Lions while they compete against Erskine but more importantly ask that you come out to raise awareness and support this worthy cause. Lets fill the room with GOLD for these kids and put a smile on the face of a family that is dealing with this terrible disease.
Donations baskets will be at the entry gate. All donations and entry money received will be donated to the American Childhood Cancer Organization. You can find out more information and ways you can get involved at https://www.acco.org/
