Men’s Volleyball Goes 2-0 Over Weekend

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. - The Emmanuel College Men's Volleyball Team added two wins to their record after facing Lees-McRae on Friday and Queens on Saturday.

Against Lees-McRae, the Lions went 3-1, dropping only the second set. After dropping set #3 25-22, the Bobcats went into the fourth set with a must win mentality. Emmanuel was in good shape in the final set at 25-24, but Lees-McRae continued to press. The set went way past the 25 mark all the way into the 30s. Finally, a kill from Aleksa Lakic allowed the Lions the chance at match point. A service error from the Bobcats would give Emmanuel the victory 33-31.

This win brings their conference record to 4-5.

On Saturday, the Lions traveled back home where they took on Queens University. A quick 3-0 sweep of the Royals put Emmanuel on a 2 game win streak.

In the first set the Royals didn't stand a chance as the Lions overpowered them offensively with an impressive .583 hitting percentage. Queens stayed in a little longer in the second set but several errors disallowed them the opportunity to stay in the set.

In the third and final set, Emmanuel once again had a dominant performance to take the match.

The Lions offense was very diverse, with both middles and outsides having almost identical attempts and kills. Demitrius Maloney finished the night with 22 assists.
